Our new Family Engagement Leadership Initiative

As of July 1, 2009, SJB Child Development Centers introduced its new Family Leadership Initiative. Our vision is to become the leading Child Care & Family Enrichment provider in Santa Clara County. The Family Engagement Leadership Initiative is designed to enhance the current programs and services at SJBCDC by incorporating Parent Education, Fatherhood/Male Involvement and Health Services to our children and families served.

Our mission with the Family Engagement Leadership Initiative is to develop and implement sustainable effective family leadership programs & resources that will empower SJB families to be positive and influential advocates in their children’s lives.

Joined together as one body, we will equip, edify and encourage one another in our collective pursuit to:

- Teach and Inspire
- Nurture Strong Families
- Build a Thriving Community

Why these programs are needed.
• Research states that the earlier in a child’s educational process parent involvement begins, the more powerful the effect.
• To Help Educators and community organizations develop strong school and family partnerships.
• 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes
• 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.
• 85% of youths sitting in prisons grew up in a fatherless home
• Education on nutrition and physical health is very limited in pre-schools and often not readily available in other languages.
• Low-Income families have less access to basic health screenings.

Our goal is to provide every child and family in our program with all the opportunities to grow healthy and strong in order to become a productive part of the community. A donation today can build a better community for tomorrow.
